Bewitched, Bagged, Besotted. Beijing Buries Hong Kong
December 14, 2023 | San Clemente California ………. Hong Kong is stunningly beautiful. Hong Konger’s and Cantonese, more beautiful than the City itself. A priceless city and culture in China, our world and life. Beijing begged for Her, bewitched Her, bagged Her. And, now, has clearly besotted Her for all the world to see. Beijing blowing it completely, thanks to Communist Rule disemboweling the very organs necessary for a vibrant society and Hong Kong’s greatness; Justice, Liberty, Democracy ………. Let’s start with their 50 year commitment (1997-2047) maintaining the original “Basic Law” of Hong Kong, a promise broken by Beijing from the start; no direct representative elections (good bye democracy), no free press, no freedom of assembly, no free speech (good bye Lady Liberty), No Apple Daily, No Jimmy Lai (goodbye entrepreneurs). In short no good reason to go to Hong Kong or, do any business in Hong Kong. Ever again. It’s the Hong Konger’s themselves that make Hong Kong and our world. Not overreaching, over controlling, paranoid totalitarian governments masquerading as “elected” Peoples’ Choice wardens………. All is not lost, however, as Hong Konger’s are voting with their feet. Emigrating from China in large numbers and fast. Money is leaving too. Hong Kong society, money, culture, pure amazingness are departing for good. Drawn to the embrace of Lady Liberty and Lady Justice found outside the walls of emperor’s gardens. Bewitched, Bagged and Besotted no more, shouting from the rooftops the world over, Hong Kongers are welcome everywhere; just not in the streets, laptops and phones of Hong Kong.
